The Crucifixion 232

Tune: Wilson Marion Cooper, 1902
Meter: Prose
They crucified the Savior,
And nailed Him to the tree.
See, Mary comes a weeping to behold her blessed Lord.
Hark! Mother, behold thy dying son!
In great agony
Our Lord is dying,
See Him hanging,
Hear Him crying:
“My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me, my God?”
The sun refused to shine;
All is darkness;
See the Savior,
Hear his groanings,
Blessed Savior,
Great Redeemer;
List, poor sinner,
“I die for sinful men,
It is finished,
For sinful man I pay the debt.”
